1) Public buses used by UF students do not come as often on Saturdays and Sundays. Students who do not have a car and do not live on campus have to pay for an Uber which are additional costs and gets expensive with the time.

2) Every year, million of people loose their lives or get seriously injured because they are not wearing a helmet while driving a motorcycle.
Why does the bug exist?
According to the laws of Florida, motorcycle drivers do not have to wear a helmet if they are driving less than 30 miles per hour.
3) When I am using the wifi from my apartment complex, my computer does not uploads a website that fast and it sometimes does not let me upload my homework.
Why does the bug exist?
Mostly students live at my apartment complex and everyone of them uses the wifi for studying or streaming movies.
4) iPhones become slower after two years of usage. Their apps tend to take more time for downloading and their entire system starts to work slower.
Why does the bug exist?
Apple updates their software regularly and some programs become more sophisticated which are not well processed by the older iPhone models. This also initiates the consumer of getting the newest iPhone model.
5) When I want to go at night for a swim at the pool in my apartment complex, I always find bottles of beer lying around.
Why does the bug exist?
People are too lazy to throw them out to the trash can.
6) People who are all by themselves in the U.S have to pay the equal amount of money for a phone plan as a whole family, even though a family can divide the phone bill between 3 and 5 people.
Why does the bug exist?
Phone companies make offers like that in order to get as many customers as possible.
7) For every semester, I have to buy a new access code for my classes.
Why does the bug exist?
The companies providing those access codes use the money for profit which some part of it is invested in innovating their softwares and creating new products.
8) I had to pay 100$ dollars at the Apple store to get the front glass of my iPhone fixed when when it felt by accident to the floor even though the front glasses are worth much less than 100$.
Why does the bug exist?
Apple are the only company who has the right and official tools to get the iPhone fixed correctly.
9) Most of the apartment complexes, mine included, in Gainesville have huge dumpsters outside in the parking lot. It is not only bad looking but people throw everything in it even old wood chairs and papers that could be easily recycled.
Why does the bug exist?
Most of the apartment complexes do not have the budget to install the green trashcans for recycling.
10) Every time I go visit my family in Luxembourg, I have to pay extremely high fees when I want to use my credit card on top of the price of the product or service I purchase.
Why does the bug exist?
Banks have to process the value of the Euro vs the value of the Dollar and make you pay for it.
11) The prices of Uber and Lyft double after the Football games on the weekends.
Why does the bug exist?
They are aware that everyone wants to go home or to a party after the game and an important amount of people do not take their cars for the game since they want to enjoy the game while eating some court food and drinking some beers.
12) Sometimes my roommate takes her car to school and we carpool together in order to arrive earlier and faster to class but we always end up arriving at the same time if we would have taken then bus.

The traffic in Gainesville is extremely crowded and the best parking spots are always taken.
13) Anywhere I go on Campus to get something really quick to eat like for example Subway, Chipotle or Chick Fil A', I aways end up waiting twenty minutes before I get my food.
Why does the bug exist?
A high amount of students do not cook at their places and just go out to eat every day.
14) Sometimes I have to wait for a long time in school to make myself some copies for school since I do not have a printer at school.
Why does the bug exist?
Printers are not cheap and its ink is extremely expensive and does not last that long depending on the quality of the printer. It gets cheaper for students to go to the University and pay for a single copy.
15) Me and a couple of my friends have been wanting to go and practice for the soccer club of UF at the Maguire Field but they have had to close it a couple of times.

The UF Recsports administration do not allow people to practice any sports on that field if it rains which is sadly every single day.
16) Often when I go for a run around my neighborhood I have to be careful not to step into feces of a dog.
Why does the bug exist?
Even though most places in Gainesville are pets friendly, they do not have many small plastic bags around the pathways to disposal and most of the dog owners are to lazy to bring their own plastic bags and clean the streets.
17) When it rains for a longer period of time, insects like for example cockroaches tend to enter inside the apartment.
Why does the bug exist?
Cockroaches come inside the homes to seek shelter of the high amount of rain.
18) When my father wants to send me money to my American bank account, I only receive it after 3-5 business days.
Why does the bug exist?
Intercontinental bank transactions do not transfer money instantly if the accounts are located in different banks.
19) The buses are always extremely cold which is not extremely healthy if you have been outside at 90 degrees for a few hours and suddenly you enter to a bus at 60 degrees.
Why does the bug exist?
The bus drivers have to drive for hours and put the temperature of the air conditioning at a cold level since they do not realize how warm it is outside.
20) Depending on where I am on campus I have extremely bad cellphone receptions which sometimes does not even lets me make a regular phone calls.
Why does the bug exist?
There are a huge amount of students on campus which all have at least an iPhone that uses the same cell reception as me. Some times the phone tower are also located much further away.
As far as I am concerned I must admit that the ten first bugs where easy to come up with. The following five became a bit more difficult and for the last two I was definitely spending the most time on it. Nevertheless, I can feel that from now on, every time something new bugs me, I instantly do not think of it as a simple bug anymore but I ask myself the question why the bug exists in the first place and then I will think of a solution instinctively. This assignment has literally changed my way of thinking which I am extremely grateful for and I sincerely hope that someday I will find a bug that may be the beginning of my entrepreneurial path.

ReplyDeleteI also found it pretty difficult to come up with this list, as I had to change my mind to think about life in this type of way. But I feel that it will be very helpful for us, and will be a skill that we will hone with our time in this class. I resonate with many to the bugs that you came up with, especially the bad cell service I receive on campus.
